NEW ORLEANS (NOLA NOW) - Here’s a list of events happening in New Orleans and the surrounding areas this weekend from Feb. 23 to Feb. 25.

Krewe du Pooch Parade

The Krewe du Pooch parade returns for its fifth year this Saturday at noon along the Mandeville Lakefront.

Originally scheduled for last weekend, organizers postponed the event until this Saturday due to weather concerns. This year’s parade theme is “Puppy Love,” and the walking parade features dogs and their owners dressed in costume.

After the parade and costume contest, the fun continues on the Lakefront with pet adoptions, vendors, food and drinks and fun activities for the whole family.

Thrillville Fair

Thrillville, the national traveling fair event, returns to the Shrine on Airline in Metairie.

All the sights, sounds and smells of a carnival are part of the experience. The fair features more than 30 amusement rides, entertaining shows, games and fair food.

The Thrillville Fair opens at 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. General admission is $10, with an additional cost for rides. The event remains in town until Feb. 25.

NOLA Nite Market: Lunar New Year Celebration

On the West Bank, the NOLA Nite market hosts its Lunar New Year Celebration at the Westwego Farmers Market on Friday and Saturday.

The NOLA Nite Market is an event modeled after nighttime outdoor markets common in Asian countries. Started by Thuy Pham in 2019, the markets have been growing in popularity ever since. The Lunar New Year celebration is a big draw for the Asian-focused food event.

The event features more than 20 food vendors, mostly centered around Asian cuisine including Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean and pan-Asian concepts and even some non-Asian dishes. Fireworks, cultural performances, K-pop dancing groups and a spicy noodle soup eating contest are also part of the lineup.

The event runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and noon to 10 p.m. on Saturday. Find more information about the event via the website and Instagram.

TNA Wrestling returns to New Orleans

One of the country’s top wrestling promotions, TNA, Total Nonstop Action, returns to New Orleans for the first time in two years for some high-energy pro wrestling on Friday and Saturday at the Alario Center.

TNA hosts its “No Surrender” event on Friday, with wrestler Quinn “Moose” Ojinnaka facing Alex Shelley for the TNA World Champion belt. More matches are planned on Saturday for an event called “Bayou Blast.”

Both shows start at 7 p.m. at the Alario Center. Tickets start at $35 per night via Eventbrite.

Wizards of Weather

FOX 8 and the Louisiana Children’s Museum partner for the Wizards of Weather on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Kids can come to meet our weather team, play at the green screen and learn about the world of meteorology. Our weather team will have different weather learning activities around the museum, and kids can get a junior meteorologist certificate once they complete each level.

The NOLA Project: ‘The Colored Museum’

“The Colored Museum” opens at the New Orleans African American Museum and runs from Feb. 22 to March 9.

It’s a production by NOLA Project, a local theatre company known for its immersive performances.

Originally premiering in 1986, this bold and provocative satire presents a series of 11 “exhibits” representing Black American culture. Described by playwright George C. Wolfe as both “an exorcism and a party”, “The Colored Museum” has electrified, discomforted, and delighted audiences of all colors redefining our ideas of what it means to be Black in contemporary America.
