NEW ORLEANS, La. (NOLA NOW) - As Lent begins, Christians abstain from meat on Fridays. Many organizations, businesses and churches are providing fish fry meals.

Here’s a list of fish fry locations:

Westwego Fire Department: Lenten meals available March 7,14,21, and 28. Also, through April 4,11, and 18 at 677 Avenue H. Lunch is served from 11AM – 1 PM. Dinner is served from 5PM – 8PM.

All Saints Catholic Church: 300 Ptolemy, New Orleans (Algiers). March 7, 14, 21 & 28; April 4 & 11. $15 meals.

St. Agnes: Marquette Activity Center, 3410 Jefferson Hwy., Jefferson. March 14, 28 and April 11, 5 p.m., hosted by Men’s Club. $15 plates of fried fish, fried shrimp, French fries, coleslaw, bread, iced tea. Family Bingo included on April 11.

St. Angela Merici: 901 Beverly Garden Drive, Metairie. March 14, 28 and April 11, 5-8 p.m. Drive-thru available only for fried fish plates. $12 adult plates. $10 child’s plate, comes with fries, coleslaw and bread. $14 grilled fish plates come with green peas, coleslaw and bread, or fried shrimp with fries, coleslaw and bread. $5 soup, $3 slice of cheese pizza and $3, fries.
